"This on board device provides chuff and hiss sound that is electronically triggered by the turn of the axle for proper cadence with the engine's drive wheels. Once adjusted it will not go out of cadence when cars are added or removed from the train, the way that competitors' voltage driven systems read. The 1 3/16 inch x 3/4 inch amplifier board contains a switch. Power comes from a 9 volt ALKALINE battery so that there is full sound from the first turn of the wheel.
